Description

This was a commission for cynthiasophia of her adorable and colorful hummingbird character. Her reference art is on that account if you are curious. I'd say it's pretty dern close!

This project was full of firsts, and definitely presented challenges. In fact, I think the only part of the costume that didn't have any new techniques were the gloves. On the head there is a very long and flexible foam beak covered in fleece. Vision is from the eyes and breathing is out the mouth.
The bodysuit has incredibly complicated patterning, most of which is hidden by the wings and tail. Grr! The chest has sewn breast padding for a more overtly feminine look, and the hips are also padded fairly heavily. I am very proud of the shaping of those padded areas. The arms and torso are lined in breathable, cooling athletic mesh for added comfort.
Your own street shoes go into the giant stompy bird feet with invisible zippers in the legs, and when you're all done suiting, they come out just as easy.
The wings are attachable and detachable with a harness worn underneath the suit. The wings themselves are made from a lightweight stiff foam, as is the tail. Sewn and shaved details form feather shapes on the bottoms of the wings and tail. This was a project about 6 months in the making, and I'm happy to be wrapping things up now. Just need to reinforce a couple seams on the inside and then this colorful gal ships off to her new owner. :)

Please note the wearer of the suit here is not the owner- the owner is slightly taller.
Also note I am NOT open for commissions at this time, nor am I giving out price quotes. Thanks, and enjoy the pics!
